We begin with an evaluation of your whole house.  This uniquely beneficial process looks at the strengths and weaknesses of the main building components of your home.   These results provide invaluable information that allows us to define a strategic plan for sequencing improvements to your home in the smartest way possible.

We have found that many times a homeowner will get excited to make a new, specific improvement to their home; there is a plan to put in a new kitchen, to remodel the bathroom, or to put a new sauna in the basement. The budgeted money for this project will be spent only to find out afterward that the chimney is in bad shape and needs tuck pointing,  that an ice dam has caused a considerable amount of rot in the walls, or perhaps  there is a high level of radon in the basement that they were unaware of.

It would have been very beneficial to know about these things before spending all of their budget on the new sauna and kitchen.

At New Generation Builders, we have developed an evaluation process that can give you a complete picture of your home's current and future maintenance needs.

With 34 years of experience, we utilize advanced building science principles and excellent diagnostic skills plus an understanding of your home’s many systems which impact indoor air quality, energy conservation, durability and everyday functionality.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

INVESTIGATION  We make an appointment to do a full examination of your home. We go through all areas of your home to begin the process of understanding  it's structure from top to bottom: the foundation, the roof, patterns of unacceptable heat loss in the thermal enclosure, issues dealing with patterns of water movement throughout the house as well as any concern specific to electrical, plumbing, ventilation and windows.

ASSESSMENT  We pull all of the information together in a report that will give you a complete picture of your home's weaknesses and  strengths as well as an analysis of how all of it's dynamic systems work together.

RECOMMENDATIONS  We then propose a strategic plan that incorporates these new insights into your home.  It will give you the information needed to decide how to sequence your hoped for remodeling projects and any urgent repair/maintenance items.
